ELF: Nordic Storm sign outstanding British DB Chad Walrond
The Nordic Storm of the European League of Football continue to bring in new talent in preparation for their inaugural season in the ELF.
Earlier this month, the Storm announced the addition of British defensive back Chad Walrond.
Walrond, 24, will be reunited with his former teammate with the Allgäu Comets and roommate from London, Glen Toonga.
The young Brit spent the 2024 season with the Stuttgart Surge helping them reach the ELF semifinals. He finished as the third leading tackler on the team with 48 and snagged three interceptions. Prior to that, he played in 15 games for the Cologne Centurions during the 2022 and 2023 campaigns. He recorded a total of 69 tackles, including 7 tackles for loss. He also had one interception.
He was one of 44 invited athletes to the 2021 London NFL International Player Pathway Combine. Showing great potential, Walrond impressed scouts with his fluid hips and straight-line speed. Ultimately, however, Walrond was not selected for that year’s NFL International Player Pathway Program.
The 5’11”, 195-pound defensive back entered the ELF after coming off of a season with the Comets in the German Football League where he recorded 24 tackles and had six pass breakups while playing safety and kick returner.
Before taking his talents to Bavaria, Walrond first played football for the Hertfordshire University Hurricanes. He then went on to play for the London Blitz where he became team defensive MVP in 2018. Walrond has only been playing football for approximately four years. Prior to strapping on the pads, the London native played rugby and ran track.
