The Leipzig Kings have announced the signing of Gabriel Cunningham as their quarterback for the final three games of the European League of Football season.
The 6’4″, 205 pound, 27-year-old native of Alexander City, Alabama becomes the third starting quarterback for the injury-plagued Kings squad this season. Previous starter, Conor Miller, suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in Leipzig’s latest game, a 59-0 loss to the Hamburg Sea Devils.
Most recently, Cunningham played for the Tucson Sugar Skulls in the Indoor Football League. He spent the 2021 season with the Bad Homburg Sentinels in Germany’s GFL2.
The veteran quarterback previously played for Texas Tech University and New Mexico State University (2016, 2017), the Bremerhaven Seahawks (2019), Curitiba Crocodiles in Brazil (2020) and Bad Homburg.
Leipzig head coach Fred Armstrong:
“Gabriel played with our cornerback Roedion Henrique at New Mexico State University, so we are familiar with his character. When we saw his film a month ago, Henrique helped us put Cunningham on our QB list”. We look forward to him finishing the season and proving his abilities against ELF competition.”
With three games left in the 2022 season, Leipzig sits last in the Northern Conference of the ELF with a 2-7 record.
