The Ingolstadt Praetorians continue to fill their roster with high profile players in preparation for the upcoming European League of Football season with the signing of former Cleveland Browns safety Tigie Sankoh.
The 23 year old, 5’11”, 215 pound Sankoh, a product of the NFL International Player Pathway Program, spent two seasons on the Cleveland Browns practice squad, occupying the designated international spot reserved for IPPP players. But he took a different path to arrive there. Sankoh actually grew up in Maryland and lived there with his family until he was 15. The Sankoh family then moved from Maryland to London, England where Sankoh attended Archbishop Tenison’s Church of England High School in Croydon, located in south London. Missing American football, he went looking and found it by Googling teams in and around London. He first joined the South London Renegades and then the Kent Exiles. In fact, in 2015, Sankoh made it into a local newspaper story when he scored the winning touchdown in a Renegades‘ win over the London Warriors.
He was noticed by Aden Durde (now defensive line coach with the Dallas Cowboys) who was the head of football development at NFLUK. He attended the PRIDE American Football Academy at the Bristol Academy of Sport and then with Durde’s help, he landed with the powerhouse London Warriors in the British American Football League.
Sankoh played for the Warriors and kept working out and, once he was eligible, got an invite to go to Florida and train for three months at IMG Academy as a participant in the pathways program.
