Prior to the loss to the Raiders Tirol this past weekend, the Helvetic Mercenaries announced the signing of receiver Terryon Robinson for the remainder of the 2023 European League of Football season.
In his debut game with the Mercenaries, a 42-28 loss to the Raiders, Robinson made an immediate impact catching two touchdown passes.
The 5-10, 198 pound, the 29-year-old receiver spent the 2024 season with the Caudillos de Chihuahua in Mexico’s Liga de Futbol Americano, helping them to an undefeated season and a championship. In the title game, Robinson was a factor catching a touchdown pass as the Caudillos defeated the Raptors del Valle de México 34-14.
He spent the 2023 season with the Cologne Centurions catching 58 passes for 565 yards and eight touchdowns. He had made his ELF debut with the now defunct Istanbul Rams in 2022 with six games left in the year. He finished the season ranked seventh in the league in receiving yards with 829 tied for eighth in touchdowns with eight. His average of 138.17 yards per game led all receivers in the league.
Originally from Decatur, Georgia, Robinson played college football at Western Carolina University (NCAA, Div. I, FCS) from 2014-2017. A four year impact player, he had his best season in his senior year, 2017, when he had 62 catches for 896 yards and 10 touchdowns. By the time his college career ended, he had become the Catamounts’ all time leader in receptions with 230 and ranked fifth in school history in receiving yards with 2,839. After tryouts with teams in the CFL and the XFL, he was set to play in the German Football League in the 2020 season before the COVID 19 pandemic ruined those plans. He then spent the 2021 season in Turkey with the Yeditepe Eagles. In 2022, he started the year with the Pioneros de Querétaro of Mexico before joining the Istanbul Rams in July.
