The Barcelona Dragons have announced that Conor Miller will be their quarterback for the 2023 European League of Football season.
The 27-year-old Miller arrives in Barcelona following a brief three game stint with the Leipzig Kings in 2022 after winning the French championship with the La Courneuve Flash. With Leipzig, Miller threw for 545 yards in the three games while tossing five touchdown passes. In leading the Flash to their first French title since 2018, Miller threw for 1,422 yards and 18 touchdowns during the regular season.
Miller was excited about joining the Dragons and in perfect Spanish explained:
“For me this has been a dream since I was a child, since I played Madden from 2003 where I picked the Dragons. It is a great honor to represent the best city in the world. When I spoke with Bart [Barcelona GM], I was able to see his perspective and vision of the franchise, and I really want to be a part of it all. I am very happy to be in Catalonia, looking forward to working with my teammates and meeting the best fans in the league.”
The 6’5,” 210-pound signal-caller led the Austrian Football League in passing in 2021 throwing for 2,170 yards and 23 touchdowns during the eight-game regular season. Behind the decision-making of Miller, the Graz Giants made the postseason with the league’s second-highest scoring offense, averaging 29.4 points a game.
Prior to the 2021 season in Austria, Miller had a short stint in the German Football League with the Cologne Crocodiles. In four games in Germany, Miller threw for 718 yards and six touchdowns before suffering an AC sprain that effectively ended his season.
The South Florida native found his way to the international football scene after a whirlwind collegiate career that included two stops at different junior colleges before finishing his career in his home state as part of the Florida Atlantic Owls (NCAA D1 FBS). Following his time with the Owls, Miller worked out for the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, and Miami Dolphins but nothing materialized. After pursuing the CFL for a short time Miller found himself in Europe in 2019 as the starter for the Cologne Crocodiles.
