The Barcelona Dragons of the European League of Football have signed quarterback Zach Edwards from St. Scholastica College.
The Barcelona Dragons didn’t have to go far to find their quarterback for their inaugural season in the European League of Football. Dragons’ general manager Bart Iaccarino went to his former team to the Barcelona-based L’Hospitalet Pioneers to find or the 6’4″, 220 pound passer. Most recently, Edwards has led the Pioneers to a 6-0 regular season record, orchestrating on offense averaging 36 points per game in Spain’s LNFA Serie B.
Edwards was happy about staying in Spain and joining the Dragons in the ELF.
“It’s a huge honor. To have the trust of GM Iaccarino to lead this historic franchise means the world. I can’t wait to get to work and do whatever I can to make this team successful.”
Edwards came to Spain following a record setting collegiate career at St. Scholastica College (NCAA: Division III). The Minnesota native threw for a school record 90 touchdowns and 9,024 yards in 36 games with the Saints, earning three straight all conference nods in his career. Edwards’ college accomplishments earned him an invite to the 2019 FCS Bowl where he won MVP.
