ELF: Barcelona Dragons sign QB Grant Beucler

The Barcelona Dragons have announced the signing of Grant Beucler as their new quarterback for the remainder of the 2024 European League of Football season.

Beucler replaces Levi Lewis.

The 6-2, 210 pound Beucler from Highland Park, Texas, spent three seasons as a backup quarterback for the TCU (Texas Christian University) Horned Frogs (NCAA Div. 1 FBS).

After opening the season with a 2-3 record, the Dragons have undergone a turmoil-filled collapse losing their last three in a row by lopsided scores. The offense has not scored a point since June 22, they forfeited their July 6 game against the Munich Ravens after trailing 54-0 at halftime. They lost their head coach in the week prior to that loss.

Still, new head coach Oscar Calatayud has had an outstanding record of success in the Spanish National League with the Badalona Dracs and most recently in the French D1 Elite league with the Grizzlys Catalans.

The Dragons will play host to the undefeated Stuttgart Surge on June 27.
