The Barcelona Dragons have announced that they have signed American defensive back Luke Glenna ahead of the 2023 European League of Football season.
Originally from Edina, Minnesota, Glenna has just completed his senior season at St. Thomas University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Joining the team in 2018, he was a four-year impact player for the Tommies, who transitioned from a Division III team to a Division I FCS team during Glenna’s tenure. In 35 games in his collegiate career, he registered 167 total tackles and 13 interceptions. Against FCS competition in 2021 and 2022, he had 133 tackles and eight interceptions in 21 games. He was named to the All-Pioneer League first team in 2022, a year in which his team went 10-1.
Glenna joins a Dragons team that has been experiencing a major overhaul this offseason. While they made the playoffs last season with a record of 8-4, they have made a number of changes to the roster and staff, including the hiring of new coach Gabriel Sanchez. Glenna becomes the third North American import player on the Dragons roster, after pass rusher Darius Slade and quarterback Conor Miller.
