The fourth season of the Egyptian National Football League (ENFL) kicked off on Friday with two games as the two newest teams in the league, the Cairo Warriors and Gezira Thunder made their debut against the MSA Tigers and Cairo Wolves.
The MSA Tigers secured the first win of the season by beating the Warriors 20-6, who managed to clinch a last minute touchdown in the fourth quarter – their first official touchdown as a team. The Cairo Wolves dominated the Gezira Thunder, denying them any points and winning the game 42-0.
Egyptian Flag Football League
The Cairo Wolves ladies’ team faced the Thunder ladies team and managed a strong win as well in the first game in the Egyptian Flag Football League (EFFL), though the Thunder’s ladies put up a fight, managing to score two touchdowns in the second half. The game ended with the Wolves, the defending champions, winning 33-14.
The Cairo Warriors ladies had a better game than the Warriors men’s team and though it ended with the same score; 20-6, it was in the Warriors’ favor. The Warriors ladies secured their first win this season against the Cairo Bears who played a good game but couldn’t translate any of their drives into touchdowns.
The AUC Titans ended Round 1 of the EFFL games with a remarkable performance on the field, beating the Cairo Hell Hounds with their unstoppable offence 26-2 in the first official game for both teams.
Upcoming games
This Friday has closer matchups in the ENFL, as the Hell Hounds men face the Titans and the defending champions, the GUC Eagles, play their first game this season against the Cairo Bears whose Running back Anthony Green is expected to make his first appearance in the ENFL.
The second round of the EFFL starts again with a game for the Gezira Thunder, this time facing the MSA Tigers. The Eagles play against the Hell Hounds and the Wolves face the Titans in the last game of the round.
