Two teams will play the first official game of American Football in the history of Ecuador!

[su_dropcap]T[/su_dropcap]here is some exciting football news coming out of South American this weekend, and it is not about the World Cup kicking off in Brazil!

It is a pleasure to announce that from June 11th – 15th the first official American Football camp in the history of the country of Ecuador will take place in Quito, Ecuador. On the last day of the camp two teams will play the first official game of American Football in the history of Ecuador.

Ecuadorian players have been gaining experience in the European and Asian leagues American Football leagues and now want to bring this great game to their home country. Over forty athletes and prospective players have signed up for the camp. The athletes have some experience with American Football, but until this point most of them have only been practicing on their own. This camp will be a way to evaluate and help the local coaches and players with basic skills and drills so they can keep training. The goal of the camp is to help teach American Football fundamentals to new players as well as develop new and exisiting teams and organizations.

A final goal would be to bring together players from various clubs teams, the Quito Lobos, Berserkers, Condores de Cuenca and a few others to form an Ecuador national American Football team that would compete against other Latin American countries.

Another truly amazing fact about this camp is that is was made possible thanks to support from international friends of the Ecuadorians. The French team Dragons de Marseillan, Chinese team Shanghai Nighthawks – 上海 夜鹰, Swiss team Geneva Seahawks as well as the Football Americano de Quito Lobos have contributed both in materials and logistics. Local sponsor company DLC Sports has also been vital to making this weekend happen.
