It’s time to put on your big boy (game) pants, as the Premier divisions clash in the top tier’s semi-finals. We’ve once again enlisted the help of East Kilbride Pirates’ Chairman Amanda McDonald as well as Manchester Titans Women’s player and Youth/Junior Team Manager Verity Anne Brawn. Let the dissension commence!
TAMWORTH PHOENIX vs LONDON BLITZ
The ‘Nix sealed a perfect 10-0 regular season record with a 41-21 victory over Merseyside Nighthawks last week. More importantly, they were crowned Premier North Champions a game earlier. Tamworth have been explosive on both sides of the ball all season long, averaging over 47 points per game, against just under 8 points per game conceded. With the #InfernO offense and #ProjectHAVOC defense constantly trying to out do each other, Coaches Martin Hilton and Jason Scott have put together a crazy talented squad in 2016.
Over in the Premier South, the London Blitz have had an up and down season. Losses to the Warriors sandwiched a shock defeat to Bristol Aztecs as the Blitz fell to a regular season record of 7-3. With a running clock coming in to force in the regular season finale against the Warriors, the Blitz will be eager to bounce back and prove that was just an off day.
Double Coverage Staff Predictions
With an 11-4 split in favour of the ‘Nix, our writers see a Britbowl appearance for the new #KingsOfTheNorth with a victory over the Blitz this weekend. Can Tamworth continue their regular season form in to the post-season? This is as good a chance as they’ve had in a number of years.

LONDON WARRIORS vs MERSEYSIDE NIGHTHAWKS
The Warriors are becoming somewhat accustomed to perfect regular seasons, wrapping up a 10-0 2016 record in style as they thrashed the Blitz 9-48 on their own turf. The highest scoring team across all tiers and divisions, the Warriors have averaged 48.9 points per game whilst conceding only 2.9. TWO. POINT. NINE. Can anyone stop them from retaining their title once again?
The first team to be given that opportunity is the Nighthawks. The dream 2016 season continues for Merseyside as they enter their fourth consecutive post-season following a 7-3 record in their debut Premier North season. A six game winning streak was abruptly ended with a shock 29-28 last minute loss to Sheffield, but the Nighthawks will be incredibly pleased with their season to date.
Double Coverage Staff Predictions
The first clean sweep in the Double Coverage playoff predictions of 2016! Unfortunately for Merseyside, our writers are unanimous in their opinion that the Nighthawks’ fairytale season comes to an end at the hands of the reigning champions.
