Defending Danish champions the Triangle Razorbacks opened the 2017 with a resounding win, blanking the Amager Demons 35-0.
This is the second year in a row that the Razorbacks have shut out Amager. In 2016, Triangle handed the Demons a 48-0 shutout.
The Razorbacks took a 21-0 lead into halftime and cruised to the win.
Head coach Sebastian Fandert:
“Our offense worked well. We could throw the ball when we wanted, and we also got time in our running game.”
Fandert was excited about his offensive line, which had suffered a number of changes in the offseason with departing veterans being replaced by young, but raw talent. He was pleased at how well the replacements performed.
He was also happy about the defense, especially about the fact they had three interceptions:
“There are things that need to be corrected and can be done better. It is only natural at this time of the season.”
Many of the backups saw action in the second half, giving key players on offense and defense a rest.
Fandert hopes that improvements will come as early as the next game, Triangle’s home opener against perennial playoff contenders the Aarhus Tigers.
“That will be our first hard test.”
