Denmark: Copenhagen Towers sign QB Danny Higgins

The Copenhagen Towers, hot off their second straight Danish title win, have added quarterback Danny Higgins for the 2019 season.

The  23-year-old quarterback from Manahawkin, New Jersey was a three-year starter at Bridgewater State University (NCAA Div. III) in Massachusetts. In his four years at the school (2013-2016) he set school records for or most yards thrown (6,091), most attempts (871), most completions (474) and highest completion percentage, 54%. He threw 47 touchdown passes with 19 as his single season high.

In addition, Danny was named team captain,  MVP of the 2015 Cranberry Bowl,  as well as “Player of the Week” a number of times.

Towers head coach Peter Herbild:

“Our ambition in 2019 is to compete with the very best teams in Europe. We are convinced that the crucial first step towards achieving that ambition is to find a very good quarterback. We are convinced that Danny can lead a very dangerous castle attack and we will surround him with the very best Danish players and additional import players. “

Higgins is excited about the opportunity as he told the Towers:

“My expectations for next season are to win. I’m throwing myself into an unforgettable experience and I’m counting on making the Towers’ 2019 season a memorable season.

When asked about playing football in Europe and in Copenhagen he was equally effusive:

“I’ve never been to Denmark or Europe before. I am looking forward to experiencing the culture and learning my teammates, coaches, staff and fans. And I’m looking forward to living in Copenhagen. I have read about the city’s culture and history and it sounds like a city that just suits me. “

He even checked out  the city’s rating in Trip Advisors whose users voted Copenhagen as the best destination in 2019. It was another one of the reasons he chose to sign with the Towers.

In addition, Higgins was also impressed with the club’s organization:

“The Towers was the best organization I was in contact with. I had great conversations with the coaches and the management of the club. Even after the first contact, I felt this was the place for me. “
