Dacia Vienna Vikings add WR Mitchell Paige
The Dacia Vienna Vikings of Austrian Football League have signed former Indiana University and Dresden Monarchs receiver Mitchell Paige for the 2021 season:
The 2020 Austrian champions bring in the 27-year-old Carmel, Indiana native. The 5’7″, 175 pound ball catcher returns to Europe after a three-year hiatus. In 2018, Paige led the German Football League with an astounding 2,070 yards receiving and 26 touchdowns. Paige was part of a Dresden Monarchs team that made it all the way to the semi-finals. He now joins the Dacia Vienna Vikings making his return to the European game, looking to grow the game and win a championship in the process.
“I am unbelievably happy to be here. I want to win. The only acceptable result is the championship. I’m looking forward to passing on what I have learned on the field to the guys on the team. I have had some great coaches in my life and I can’t wait to pass on the knowledge! Most importantly I am trying to grow as a person and get to know myself more and more every day.”
Paige had a stellar career at his hometown college of Indiana University (NCAA DI FBS), putting up 1,736 all-purpose yards and 11 touchdowns in his four-year career. The former walk-on turned All-Big Ten selection was also a dangerous punt returner during his time in Bloomington. After an accomplished collegiate career, Paige spent 2017 in training camp and pre-season with the LA Chargers of the NFL before being released just prior to the regular season.
Paige is excited about the opportunity to play in Vienna:
“I signed with the Vikings because the opportunity to live in the worlds most livable city is too good to pass up! I instantly connected with the coaches and knew that it was too good to pass up for us.”
The last time the lightning-quick receiver was on the field in Europe he was shattering records. His impact on the Vikings should not be overlooked as this Vienna squad looks to make another championship run this summer.
Check out the dynamic playmaking of the newcomers Mitchell Paige and quarterback Eystin Salum this Saturday, March 27 as the Dacia Vienna Vikings take on the Mödling Rangers at 15:00 (3 pm) CET (09:00 am ET).
