German Football League’s Cologne Crocodiles sign LB/S Dejvion Steward
The Cologne Crocodiles of the German Football League have signed signed Tiffin University Dragons (NCAA Div. II) linebacker/safety Dejvion Steward for the 2021 season.
Steward had originally planned to go to Germany in 2020, signing with the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes before the pandemic cancelled the GFL season.
The 6’0, 200 pound, soon-to-be 28 year old Steward is a native of Detroit, Michigan and played his college career at Tiffin University. He started 23 games for Tiffin throughout his college career and finished his senior season with 87 tackles, 8 pbu and 3 sacks. Steward finished his second season in Europe in 2019 with the Seinäjoki Crocodiles in Finland’s Maple League recording 75 tackles good for fourth in the league, and three interceptions. The year prior, in 2018, he played for the Bolzano Giants in Italy helping them reach the Italian championship game where they lost to the Milano Seamen. He finished the year fourth on the team with 36.5 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and 7 pbu.
Steward is excited to get back on to the football field:
“I signed with Cologne to win and I trust that Coach Köpper is putting together a team that will do so in the GFL. I’m excited I get the chance to run around and play football again. I missed it, all of it. The preparation, the fans, competing and just having fun on the field playing the game I grew to love. In times like this it teaches us not to take things for granted. So I look forward to giving the Crocodiles fans and organization my best for the 2021 football season.”
