Former NFL receiver Chad Johnson is making a comeback – in Mexico.
Mexico’s Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA) has announced that on April 2, Johnson will don the jersey of the Saltillo Dinos as their first ever import player as they travel to Monterrey to play the Monterrey Fundidores.
Johnson played 11 seasons in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, and the Miami Dolphins. He was drafted by the Bengals in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft after spending his college career at Santa Monica College and Oregon State. He played for the Bengals for nine seasons and in 2011, Johnson was traded to the Patriots with whom he played for in Super Bowl XLVI. In 2012, Johnson played for the Miami Dolphins during preseason.
He played for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 2014 to 2015.
With the Bengals and Patriots Johnson recorded 10,783 yards receiving and 67 touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl six times and was an All-Pro four times. He led the entire NFL in receiving in 2006.
This is the second game between the two teams this season. The Dinos won the first meeting in Saltillo 33-16.
