According to TSN Football Insider Dave Naylor, CFL teams will each carry one global player on their roster this season, and two starting in the 2020 season as part of the league’s new collective bargaining agreement.
The league held a two-round international draft in April, with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats selecting French defensive lineman Valentin Gnahoua first overall.

Naylor added global players can earn only the league minimum and cannot negotiate additional terms on their deal. Naylor also reported pending free agents will be able to talk to any team nine days ahead of free agency opening, a legal tampering period, as part of the still to be ratified CBA.
And padded practices in training camp will continue to be reduced, per Naylor. There were 10 padded practices in last year’s training camp, there will be five this season, and just three in the 2020 season.
