CFL: Saskatchewan Roughriders sign Global punter Bailey Flint

The Saskatchewan Roughriders bolstered their special teams unit with the signing of Australian punter Bailey Flint, a Melbourne native whose journey from Australia to the CFL continues to showcase his booming leg.

From Melbourne to the CFL
Flint, a 6’4”, 210-pound punter, began his professional career with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2023, appearing in eight games. The second overall pick in the 2022 CFL Global Draft averaged 45.1 yards per punt last season, including a career-long 78-yarder, while also contributing on special teams with a tackle. His path to Canada included a 2022 rookie mini-camp stint with the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers, adding to his transcontinental football resume.

College Career Highlights
Before turning pro, Flint starred at the University of Toledo (2017–2021), punting 209 times for 8,426 yards—a 40.3-yard average. The Ray Guy Award nominee twice demonstrated precision, landing 82 punts inside the 20-yard line and unleashing 33 punts exceeding 50 yards, including a collegiate-best 72-yard boot.

Looking Ahead with Saskatchewan
The Roughriders will rely on Flint’s powerful leg and experience to flip field position in 2024. His global background—rooted in Melbourne’s football development programs—aligns with the CFL’s initiative to expand international talent pipelines. Saskatchewan’s special teams unit gains a proven weapon as Flint aims to build on his promising CFL trajectory.
