CEFL heads into quarterfinal round with terrific matchups in store
The Central European Football League has hit the quarterfinal round stage and the matchups this weekend are truly exciting.
Two of the games of the four games feature the national champions from four different countries.
The German Football League reigning champions, the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns will host the defending Swedish title holders, the Stockholm Mean Machines while the newly crowned Spanish champions, the Las Rozas Black Demons head to France to take on France’s top team from 2022, the La Courneuve Flash. Other action includes Italy’s number one team, Firenze Guelfi, facing the French #2 from 2022, the Thonon Black Panthers. Finally, the winners of the 2022 Serbian championship, Vukovi Belgrade, will travel to Italy to take on the Parma Panthers, semifinalists in the Italian Football League in 2022.

SBB Vukovi Beograd (Serbia) @ Parma Panthers (Italy)
This is an intriguing matchup. The Vukovi Beograd squad, who downed the Budapest Wolves from Hungary 48-38 three weeks ago in the wild card round, will be on the road to face a Parma Panthers team that is on a roll in Italy. The Panthers have won five straight and have been gathering momentum. Vukovi has a record of 2-1 in the Serbian league after dropping a 42-35 decision to the Kragujevac Wild Boars.

Las Rozas Black Demons (Spain) @ La Courneuve Flash (France)
The Las Rozas Black Demons will put their unbeaten record on the line when they travel to Paris to face a La Courneuve Flash squad that has yet to lose a game this season and in fact has lost just one game in two years. The Black Demons defeated Osos Rivas, also from Spain, in the wild card round, 22-13, to advance to the quarterfinals.

Stockholm Mean Machines (Sweden) @ Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns (Germany)
The Stockholm Mean Machines, who are unbeaten in Sweden this season, head to southern Germany to face a formidable opponent in the Unicorns. However, this Schwäbisch Hall squad is not the same team that won the 2022 German Football League title after the departure of head coach Jordan Neuman and many of the players from that championship team. This could be an interesting matchup. Stockholm edged Finland’s Kuopio Steelers 31-28in the wild card round, after staging a last minute goal line stand.

Thonon Black Panthers (France) @ Firenze Guelfi (Italy)
The number one team in Italy and defending Italian Football League champions, the Firenze Guelfi will face a tall task when they host France’s number two team, the Thonon Black Panthers. The Guelfi have lost just one game so far this season while Thonon remains undefeated (one tie). Thonon had moved on from the wild card stage after getting by Switzerland’s Calanda Broncos 38-25.
