Coritiba Crocodiles Fend Off Parana HP 11-7 in Superliga 1st Round
CORITIBA, BRAZIL – It wasn’t pretty but the Coritiba Crocodiles got it done at home in the Brown Spiders Sports Complex.
Coming within four points of their earliest post season exit ever, the Coritiba defense held tough and even found a way to score some points in a gutty win against rival HP.
In a game that most predicted to be tight and low scoring, HP running back Jefferson Bauer opened the scoring with a long run.
Coritiba answered when Crocodile running back, Lucas ‘’Mullet’’ Nascimento ran for a touchdown, while the special teams added a field goals and the Coritiba defense managed a safety.
The win sets up a Coritiba rematch with the Timbo T-Rex, who just weeks earlier, wrapped up their regular season by handing the Crocodiles one of the worst losses (25-6) in the storied history of the franchise. The Crocodiles look to be ready for a shot at redemption.
‘’We’ve just got to start faster as a team, and finish drives,’’ said Crocodile quarterback, Drew Banks. ‘’We started super slow last time (against Timbo) and they jumped on us, and we were playing from behind. Can’t do that against a team like them,’’ he said.
The Crocodiles will square off with the T-Rex in Timbo, Santa Catarina, on November 13.
