Carlstad Crusaders sign French WR Richard Gillon
The Carlstad Crusaders continue add to their roster for the 2025 Swedish Superserien season with the signing of wide receiver Richard Gillon from France.
The 5-11, 190 pound 26 year old Gillon from Bobigny, France has spent the past two seasons playing for the Toulouse Ours in the French D1 Elite league. He also spent time with the Traun Steelsharks in 2023 while current Carlstad quarterback Slade Jarman played there. Gillon played both offense and defense for the Steelsharks that season and caught the eye of Jarman who recommended him to Crusaders head coach Christian Forsman.
“Slade has put in a good word for Richard. We actually had him on our list last year but needed a different type of player at the time,” says Forsman
Gillon’s versatility is what attracted the Crusaders to him.
Forsman:
“We see Richard primarily helping us on offense in various roles and in special teams play, but will also be used when needed on defense. He gives us the flexibility that will be important for us in 2025. He is a great athlete and will be an exciting addition.”
