British QB George Reynolds joins University of Ottawa Gee-Gees

The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees have signed 6’1″, 195 pound British quarterback George Reynolds.

Reynolds is a slender and athletic quarterback at the NFL Academy in London, England, where he has been training under head coach Tony Allen and offensive coordinator Jerome Allen. Reynolds played for the Kent Exiles and Great Britain’s U19 National Team before joining London’s NFL Academy program in 2019. George is the son the Sky Sports and NFL UK reporter Neil Reynolds.

The future Gee-Gees player is excited about joining the University of Ottawa.

“I’m really excited, I’ve feel like it a great opportunity, I’ve always worked for this. It’s every practice. It’s what has been my ultimate goal, and now that I’ve made it, I’m very happy and very proud of myself.”

As part of London’s NFL Academy, Reynolds has received top notch coaching from some of the best football minds in the United Kingdom.

His former offensive coordinator Jerome Allen is excited about the journey that Reynolds is embarking on, and what it means for the future of British quarterbacks:

“Ever since he stepped into the Academy, he’s grinded. He really wanted this the whole time. He really wanted to play football at a higher level. I’m happy that it’s him, I’m happy that he’s the first, and I’m happy that British quarterbacks are getting a chance too. “

Reynolds will join a University of Ottawa program that went 5-3 in 2019 in Canada’s top level of college football. The Gee-Gees program is one of the country’s most storied college football teams with a rich history of two Vanier cups (Canadian National Championships), four Hec Crighton winners (Canadian Heisman trophy), and an 1881 program start.

Head coach of the Gee-Gees, Marcel Bellefeuille is excited to have player of Reynolds’ caliber aboard.

“We want to have good people here, it was a good fit in terms of what we’re looking for. He wants to compete, he wants to get better. When you have that type of player who’s willing to cross the pond and compete, you know you have somebody who’s going to be up for the challenge.”
