Timbó Rex Top São José Istepôs in Brazil’s SC Bowl X
Last weekend in Blumenau, Brazil, in Santa Catarina state, the final of the Catarinense Championship was held between Timbó Rex and São José Istepôs.
In a game known as the SC Bowl X, Timbó won its first state title after defeating São José 39-0.
The Santa Catarina 2015 grand finale featured heavy promotion, with great organization and a first class live online broadcast that has never been seen in Brazil before. Sesi Stadium was packed and the huge crowd enjoyed a great time.
Undefeated during the regular season, the Timbó Rex (4-0) asserted their status as favorites, scoring 19 points in the first half and shutting out the Istepôs.
After the half-time break, the T-Rex team continued to dominate the duel and extended the lead by 20 more points and easily took the title of state champion.
President of the T-Rex, Igor Rick, believes the squad has evolved after becoming runner-up in Torneio Touchdown 2014.
“We learned a lot from that loss against Vasco da Gama Patriotas (TTD) in the final match, thus we prepared ourselves too much for this final (against Istepôs) and nothing would take us away from this title.”

One of the highlights of the festivities during the pregame was a young boy who scored his own personal victory. After fighting and beating cancer, Lindomar Neto, 6 years old, played at running back for the Rex and ran with the ball the length of the field to the end zone. He received a standing ovation from the entire huge crowd for his victory and for scoring a touchdown.
