BNL: Veteran QB Timothy Morovick signs with Rotterdam Trojans
The Rotterdam Trojans who will play in the BNL league (Belgium and the Netherlands), have announced the signing of veteran quarterback Timothy Morovick for the 2024 season.
The Trojans are new to the BNL after moving from the Netherlands top league where they reached the semifinals in 2023.
The 6’2″, 215 pound, 31-year-old Morovick spent the last year playing for the Wasa Royals in Finland’s Maple League, and the Vasco Admirantes in Brazil. He helped the Royals reach the semifinals of Finland’s top league throwing for 1,948 yards and 17 touchdowns while rushing for 811 yards and 22 touchdowns. Morovick was busy in 2022 quarterbacking the Carlstad Crusaders in Sweden and the Bucharest Rebels in Romania, helping the Rebels claim the Romanian title.
The well traveled Morovick spent the shortened 2021 season with Carlstad as well. In 2021, the Hemet, California native spent the shortened and late 2020 Swedish season playing for Carlstad’s rival, the Stockholm Mean Machines, leading them to the championship final against Carlstad. During the team’s regular season, Morovick threw for 771 yards in five games and nine touchdowns while rushing for 225 yards and four touchdowns.
Before that, he had spent a tumultuous couple of years. He had originally signed to play for the Helsinki Wolverines in Finland, but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented him from traveling to Finland at the time. After signing with the Aarhus Tigers in Denmark in 2019, he suffered a season-ending injury. He had played in Poland with the Wroclaw Panthers in 2017 and 2018 helping them win their second straight Polish title in 2017 while earning the league’s most valuable player award. He left the team late in the 2018 season in a contract dispute. He spent the 2016 campaign with the Albershausen Crusaders in Germany. Morovick played for Ottawa University (Kansas, NAIA) where he was picked to play in the Senior Bowl.
