The Berlin Rebels continue to prepare for the 2021 German Football League season with the announcement that Canadian linebacker/defensive back James McCallum has been re-signed.
McCallum had originally been signed by the Rebels for the 2020 season which was canceled due to the pandemic.
The 6’0″, 192 pound, 26 year old McCallum from Mississauga, Ontario, spent the last seven games of the 2019 season with the Potsdam Royals in the GFL and recorded 28 tackles, four tackles for loss and an interception.
From 2014 to 2018, he played for Carleton University Ravens in Ottawa, Canada and was named to the Ontario University Athletics All Star Team in his senior season, 2018. He started playing football with his hometown Mississauga Warriors and then spent two years at Champlain College in Lennoxville, Quebec before joining the Ravens.
McCallum is excited to be joining the Rebels:
“I chose the Rebels because I love the city of Berlin and look forward to living there. I also like how coach Josh is both the head coach and the defensive coordinator. I want to help the Rebels have the best defense in the GFL. “
