The Berlin Rebels have signed their quarterback for the 2020 season, Matt Adam (Indiana State, NCAA Division I, FCS. ).
The 6’1″, 225 pound, 25 year old Adam, a native of San Juan Capistrano, California, spent two seasons with the Indiana State University Sycamores, earning the starting quarterback spot in 2015. He threw for 2,098 yards and 19 touchdowns that season while rushing for another 494 and six touchdowns, leading the team to its third-best offensive season in school history at that point. He stepped away from the football field following that year to focus on academics, eventually transferring to Ferris State to finish his education. Ever since he has worked with quarterback expert Steve Calhoun (Armed and Dangerous), honing his craft.
Berlin Rebels offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Cliff Madison is excited to have Adam join the team:
“After evaluating several QBs to play for us this 2020 season, coach Josh and I decided that Matt was the best choice to run our offense. I’m fully confident in Matt because I know he´s been working out every day on the things I look at in selecting a quarterback. There’ve been many quarterbacks who have sat out a couple of years and come back and had successful careers. I know for a fact that Matt is getting the best quality quarterback coaching because my good friend Steve Calhoun is the guy who’s training him. and making sure he stays on course. I can´t wait to get started working with Matt.”
Adam has been a pupil of Calhoun since his early years in football and over the past four years, Calhoun has helped him grow and develop as a quarterback. Calhoun is considered one of the top five quarterback “gurus” in football and has worked with NFL quarterbacks Cody Fajardo, Nick Foles and Cody Kessler to name just a few.
“I am really excited for this opportunity. I have always had a drive to keep playing and mentally I am more than ready for the challenge. Steve Calhoun was how I initially found out about the Rebels and the GFL and he has prepared me well for this.”
