Giorgio Bryant is no stranger to American football outside the United States.
The quarterback from the Riverside Community College has played on three continents the last three years. In 2017 he is headed to Italy to lead the offense of the northern Italian Bergamo Lions of the Italian Football League.
Bryant spent seasons with the Curtain Saint in Australia, Warsaw Sharks in Poland, and most recently the Vila Velha Tritoes of Brazil. American Football International had a chance to catch up with the quarterback after news of his signing.
AFI: Can you tell me a little bit about how you came to sign with Bergamo?
GB: I was scouted on Europlayers by Coach Adam Rita. He contacted me on Facebook asking if I would be interested in playing in Italy. At the time, he was not signed with a team but he was sure I was the quarterback he needed for this up coming upcoming season.
AFI: What are you most excited about playing in Italy for 2017?
GB: My main concern is to have a winning season. Being on a losing team is very depressing for me. I will bring knowledge, sportsmanship, courage, and a positive attitude to the team.
AFI: What do you think you can bring to Bergamo in 2017? What skills can we look forward to seeing?
GB: I’m looking to bring better pocket passing and faster speed. In January, I will be working out with four NFL scouts which will helping me in the pocket passing field and footwork.
I also bring knowledge to my offense by staying positive in any situation and teaching my offense how to read defenses pre-snap. Lastly, I will bring a coachable mentality. I hope to have a great connection with my coaching staff and team management.
