Austria’s Danube Dragons sign top GFL QB Chad Jeffries
The Danube Dragons from Austria have signed one of the top quarterbacks in the German Football League in 2017, Chad Jeffries, for the 2018 season.
Jeffries helped the Marburg Mercenaries return to respectability in the GFL in 2017 throwing for 3,045 yards and 28 touchdowns while rushing for another 305 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games. He was the second leading passer in the GFL in terms of average passing yards per game with 276.8.
The 6’2″, 220 lb, 25 year old Jeffries began his college career with the San Diego Aztecs in California and later moved to Azusa Pacific University (NCAA Div. II). At Azusa, Jeffries threw for 3,714 yards and 25 touchdowns in his three seasons there while rushing for 352 yards. In 2014,
In 2017, the Marburg Mercenaries posted an 8-6 record and returned to the GFL playoffs for the first time in three years with Jeffries behind center.
The Danube Dragons finished fifth in the Austrian Football League in 2017 with a 4-6 record, missing the playoffs for the second year in a row.
