Austrian Football League final stats offer no surprises
The final round of the Austrian Football League’s 10-game regular season did not produce any major shifts in the stats leaderboards.
The league leaders in all four of the major categories remained the same. Traun Steelsharks WR Mario Winter ended as receiving yards leader, Thomas Schnurrer of the Graz Giants led in tackles after taking over in the final week of the season, Traun Steelsharks QB John Uribe held onto the passing yardage lead and Herbert Gamboa of the Prague Black Panthers retained the rushing yardage lead by a sizable margin.
The Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants had four players among the Top 5 in the four categories to top all teams. The SonicWall Mödling Rangers, Prague Black Panthers, Danube Dragons and ASKÖ Traun Steelsharks have three apiece. Behind them, the Dacia Vienna Vikings had two while the Swarco Raiders and Amstetten Thunder finished with one. apiece
Passing
As he has from almost the first week of the season, John Uribe of the Traun Steelsharks led all quarterbacks in passing yardage and finished with 2,494 yards and 24 TDs. Giants QB Jake Kennedy jumped from 5th to 2nd following a 292 yard passing day against the Amstetten Thunder. He ended with 2,360 yards and a league-best 34 TDs. Austin Herink of the Dacia Vienna Vikings slid to 3rd with 2,339 yards while Swarco Raiders QB Sean Shelton finished 4th with 2,297 yards. Danube Dragons QB Chad Jeffries wound up 5th with 2,233 yards and 24 TDs.
Receiving
Traun Steelsharks WR Mario Winter finished as the number one receiver in the AFL with 861 yards in 10 games. Philipp Sommer of the Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants jumped up to 2nd on the final weekend and finished with 855 yards. Dacia Vienna Vikings WR Bernhard Seikovits wound up 3rd with 801 yards while SonicWall MödlingRangers WR Roman Namdar finished 4th with 768. Danube Dragons WR Phillipp Haun held onto 5th with 749 yards and 10 TDs.
Rushing
Prague Black Panthers RB Herbert Gamboa was a force to be reckoned with all year in the AFL after ending with 1,268 yards rushing and also a league-leading 14 TDs. Florian Wegan of the Rangers wound up in 2nd place with 839 while Graz Giants RB Alexander Sanz remained in 3rd with 765 yards. Florian Nöhmayr of the Steelsharks held onto 4th with 671 yards. Prague QB Dylan Potts finished as the 5th leading rusher in Austria with 637 yards.
Tackles
Graz Giants LB Thomas Schnurrer retained the lead ending the season as the leading tackler in the AFL with 71.5 tackles. Mödling Rangers LB Markus Bernas who had led most of the season, wound up 2nd with 64.5 while Martin Dorner of the Amstetten Thunder finished 3rd with 47. Prague Black Panthers LB Karel Augusta dropped to 4th with his 44.5 tackles while Florian Albrecht of the Danube Dragons climbed into 5th on the final weekend of play and wound up with 40.5 tackles.
