The Telfs Patriots of the Austrian Football League have announced the signing of Swedish national team wide receiver Theo Landström.
The 6’4″, 200 pound, 22-year-old native of Göteberg, Sweden spent the 2021 season with the Carlstad Crusaders, helping the team reach the Swedish Superserien semifinals. In the shortened, three-game regular season, Landström caught 15 passes for 291 yards and a touchdown, leading the Crusaders and ranking third in the league. He also started for Sweden in the European Championship final.
Landström spent the 2019 season playing for Clarion University of Pennsylvania (NCAA Div. II), primarily on special teams. He is a graduate of the RIG Football Academy in Sweden and played for Team Sweden in the 2018 IFAF U19 World Championships held in Mexico where Sweden finished fourth.
The lanky wide receiver started playing football for his hometown Göteborg Marvels.
Needless to say, Landström is excited about playing in Austria:
“It’s a new exiting chapter in my career. I feel like it’s a step in the right direction. Playing as an import has always been a goal of mine. Coach Nick [Kleinhans] and his team seems to have a good thing going and a clear goal, and I’m more than happy to be a part of it! I’m excited to get started.”
