[su_dropcap]W[/su_dropcap]ith the European American Football Championships underway in Austria, many leagues have taken a two-week break. Nevertheless, there was plenty of football action outside of Austria, where the tournament is being played. Make sure to keep track of all the events at the championships by reading www.americanfootballinternational.com or www.eurosportsscouting.com. And remember we welcome all comments.

Germany
The league will resume June 14.
Great Britain
Only one game was played and that was in Premiership North as Yorkshire Rams lost to the Birmingham Bulls 15-10. The Tamworth Phoenix still leads the North at 4-0 while the undefeated London Warriors (3-0) lead the South.
Holland
The Alphen Eagles made short work of the Pirates beating them 41-0 in Group A action while the Arnhem Falcons (Group B) upended the Panthers (Group A) 20-14. Alphen leads Group A with 12 points while the Amsterdam Crusaders top Group B, also with 12 points.
Ireland
The University of Limerick Vikings, who are second in the South Division, defeated Waterford 35-6 and thus remain in second in the south. Also in the south, the West Dublin Rhinos edged North Kildare 12-9. In a battle for third in the Northern Division, the Carrickfergus Knights squeaked by the Cowboys 26-24 to take over sole possession of third. With five weeks left in the season, the Dublin Rebels lead the north with a 5-0 record while Trinity College Dublin top the south, also with a 5-0 record.
Italy
The Parma Panthers (Europe #12) unloaded on Ferrara 76-6 remaining undefeated in Italian league play. The second-place Milano Seamen were idle while Bolzano (third) edged Turin 8-7 and Bergamo, who are in fourth, beat the fifth-place Ancona Dolphins 42-10. Only two weeks remain Italian league play and Parma should be the heavy favorites to defend their title.
Norway
Top ranked Eidsvoll (Europe #20) embarrassed second place Lura 42-18 at the Bulls home park while the Nidaros Domers defeated the Trolls 21-18. With the win, the 1814s remain undefeated in Norway and in first while Lura drops to second with a 4-1 record.
Poland
The Seahawks continue to play good, solid football beating the fifth place Steelers 27-14 to stay undefeated in league play. The Wroclaw Panthers exacted revenge on the Warsaw Eagles for a defeat earlier in the season, beating them 37-4. Both teams have identical records (5-2) but the big win by Wroclaw advances them past the Eagles into second spot. Kozly, who beat the Sharks 27-22, are fourth.
Serbia
After five games played in the Serbian league, Vukovi Belgrade sits comfortably atop the standings after handing second place Imperatori niŠ a 49-0 pasting. The Novi Sad Dukes pounded the Forestlanders 42-14 to remain in the third, while the fourth-place Wild Boars beat the Belgrade Blue Dragons 30-0. Two weeks remain in the Serbian season with the semifinals starting on June 14.
Spain
As mentioned last week, Spain will crown a new champion in 2014 as defending champion the L’Hospitalet Pioners were defeated in semifinal play by the Badalona Dracs 38-20. It will be the first time in five years that the Pioners will not be defending their title. In the other semi-final the Valencia Firebats downed Osos Rivas from Madrid 22-12. Valencia and Badalona will face each other for the championship – The LNFA Bowl – on June 15.
Sweden
No games were played in Sweden as Sweden played in the European American Football Championships in Austria. The league will resume play June 13.
Switzerland
The two top teams in the Swiss league, the Calanda Broncos and the Basel Gladiators seem to be on a course to meet in the Swiss final in early July. Basel humbled Winterthur 72-28 to remain first in the league while Calanda defeated Lucerne 56-33. Basel’s offense has scored 349 points by far tops in Switzerland.
