Spain

As mentioned last week, Spain will crown a new champion in 2014 as defending champion the L’Hospitalet Pioners were defeated in semifinal play by the Badalona Dracs 38-20. It will be the first time in five years that the Pioners will not be defending their title. In the other semi-final the Valencia Firebats downed Osos Rivas from Madrid 22-12. Valencia and Badalona will face each other for the championship – The LNFA Bowl – on June 15.

 Sweden

No games were played in Sweden as Sweden played in the European American Football Championships in Austria. The league will resume play June 13.

Switzerland

The two top teams in the Swiss league, the Calanda Broncos and the Basel Gladiators seem to be on a course to meet in the Swiss final in early July.  Basel humbled Winterthur 72-28 to remain first in the league while Calanda defeated Lucerne 56-33. Basel’s offense has scored 349 points by far tops in Switzerland.
