AFL: Danube Dragons sign former Stony Brook QB Tyquell Fields
The Danube Dragons of the Austrian Football League have signed former NCAA DI quarterback Tyquell Fields out of Stony Brook University. Fields joins the Dragons and head coach Fred Armstrong after planned starter Alex Thury injured his thumb, leaving an opening at the QB1 spot of Danube.
The 6’2 195-pound dual-threat passer recently finished an accomplished career at Stony Brook (NCAA DI FCS) where he broke several school records. In his junior season in 2019, Fields recorded 2,809 yards of total offense, the most in school history and his 2,471 passing yards are the second most in a season. The Yonkers, New York native finished his career with 4851 passing yards and 29 touchdowns to go with 715 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground.

Following his senior year in 2021, Fields played in the Collegiate Gridiron Showcase all-star event, and was signed by the Virginia Armada of MLFB (Major League Football), however, the league folded before its first game. He was also hosted by the XFL for several workouts.
