It was a weekend of playoff football highlighted by the European League of Football title game on Sunday, September 26.
The weekend also featured the semifinal matchups in the German Football League, Danish Nationalligaen, and Swiss National League as well as a fourth-round game in the Norwegian League of American Football.
European League of Football
In the first-ever ELF Championship Game, the Frankfurt Galaxy outscored the Hamburg Sea Devils 12-3 in the fourth quarter to finally down the Sea Devils 32-30 and claim the ELF title in front of 20,000 fans in Dusseldorf, Germany.
German Football League
The Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns advanced to the German Bowl for the 9th time Saturday in defeating the Potsdam Royals 28-18 in the German Football League semifinals. The Unicorns will be aiming to win their fifth German title.
The Dresden Monarchs showed no mercy when they blanked the Saarland Hurricanes 37-0 in the German Football League semifinals to qualify them for the German Bowl for only the second time ever.
Danish Nationalligaen
The Søllerød Gold Diggers came back from a 14-0 third-quarter deficit to edge the Triangle Razorbacks 21-20 in the Danish Nationlligaen semifinals and move on to the Mermaid Bowl for the first time since 2017.
The Copenhagen Towers simply had too much firepower for the visiting AaB 89ers in their Danish semifinal matchup, defeating them 45-29 to move on to the Mermaid Bowl for the 12th time in their history. They have won the Danish title eight times.
Norwegian League of American Football
The Kristiansand Gladiators took a measure of revenge on the Eidsvoll 1814s by beating them 40-30 at home in Kristiansand, to atone for a 35-20 loss to Eidsvoll two weeks ago.
Swiss National League
The Calanda Broncos had too much firepower for the Winterthur Warriors and soundly defeated them 35-8 in the Swiss semifinals this past weekend. The Broncos advance to the Swiss Bowl for the 12th straight year.
The Bern Grizzlies qualified for the Swiss Bowl for the first time since 2016 when they won the title, by beating the Geneva Seahawks 21-16.
