AFI.tv returns with 2 key international matchups
AFI.tv returns for the first time this season with two highly anticipated international games.
The first major international challenge game of 2022 will take place in Helsinki, Finland on April 23 as the German Football League powerhouse Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns travel north to face Finland’s most successful team of the past decade, the Helsinki Roosters.
In the other AFI.tv matchup, in a first-round game in the Central European Football League, Denmark’s defending champions, the Copenhagen Towers, will play host to the Swedish current title holders, the Örebro Black Knights.
Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns @ Helsinki Roosters, 12 noon CET
For the Roosters, this will be the first time they play a game outside of the Nordic region since 2018, when they stunned the football world in Europe by beating the Vienna Vikings 41-37 in an exhibition game, the Charity Bowl, in Vienna, Austria.
Schwäbisch Hall ventured beyond Germany’s borders for the first time ever this past season when they entered and won the Central European Football League, CEFL, title, beating Austria’s Swarco Raiders in the final.
This will be the first game of the year for both teams.
Watch the game live on AFI.tv. Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns @ Helsinki Roosters, Saturday, April 23, 12:00 CET (12 noon, 13:00 Finnish time, 06:00 am ET) Geoblocking will be lifted before game time.
Örebro Black Knights @ Copenhagen Towers
The Copenhagen Towers, defending Danish champions, will play host to the Örebro Black Knights, defending Swedish champions in the Central European Football League, CEFL, second round. The winner of this game will advance to face the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns on May 7.
The Towers have yet to start their season in the Danish Nationalligaen while Örebro has opened the Swedish Superserien season with a 1-2 record.
These two teams faced each other once before, in 2014 in Champions league play. The visiting Black Knights came away with a 30-20 win in that game.
