ELF: Cologne Centurions sign CB Shedrick Kirk: A Transatlantic Journey

The Cologne Centurions of the European League of Football (ELF) announced the signing of former Kentucky Wesleyan cornerback Shedrick Kirk.

The 6-2, 205 pound Kirk, a versatile defensive back with prior stints in U.S. leagues, aims to strengthen Cologne’s secondary.

Pre-ELF Career
Kirk’s journey included a standout 2021-2022 season at NCAA Division II Kentucky Wesleyan, where the native of  Nashville, Tennessee recorded 4 interceptions and 12 pass breakups. Post-college, he briefly joined the Pittsburgh Maulers (USFL) in 2023, contributing to their defensive rotation1. In 2024, he transitioned to the Arena Football League’s Nashville Kats, showcasing adaptability in pass-heavy schemes2.

Strategic Fit in Cologne
Centurions HC Javan Lenhardt highlighted Kirk’s “proven resilience” across leagues. His experience in diverse systems—from USFL physicality to AFL speed—positions him as a mentor for Cologne’s young European defenders.

Challenges Ahead
Kirk faces adjustments to football in Europe and the ELF’s hybrid rules. However, his transatlantic resume suggests readiness to elevate the Centurions’ playoff aspirations.
