LIVESTREAM IFAF.TV: IFAF Americas Flag Football Championships Women – Gold Medal Game – July 8, 00.00 CET (12 am, 6 pm EDT, July 7)

Old rivalries will be renewed when the United States and Mexico contest the women’s Gold Medal game at the IFAF Americas Flag Football Championship on Friday, July 7.

Two iconic quarterback of the women’s game – Mexico’s Diana Flores and Vanita Krouch of the United States – will go head-to-head at 6pm, a little more than 24 hours after meeting in the group stages at the United States Performance Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“We all want to win, but at the same time we have known each other for a long time,” said Mexico quarterback Diana Flores. “We are friends away from the field and we can be competitive and proud to represent our country, but it is all about the bond between people and growth and the love for the sport.”

Viewers in the United States the game is on USAFootball.com/watch. All other games on Field 1 and Field 2 will be shown on USAFootball.com/watch.

The Americans triumphed on Thursday morning 39-6, a reverse of the score that had seen Mexico claim gold at The World Games last year, finishing with an unbeaten 5-0 record to Mexico’s 4-1 mark.

USA scored on the opening drive, halted Mexico’s response one yard from the end zone and then opened a 13-point lead with a spectacular scoring grab by Joann Overstreet. Flores hit a wide-open Ana Aguayo for a touchdown to halve the deficit, but the comeback was short-lived.

An Ashley Klam touchdown catch made it 20-6 and seven more points were added by Overstreet as the United States capitalized on an interception for a 27-6 halftime lead. With Marlee Marquez at quarterback after the break, Overstreet and Madison Fulford reeled in touchdowns in a convincing win.

“This is the beauty of sports, where it always gives you revenge,” added Flores. “We knew this was going to be a good game, a hard one. We didn’t have a good day and we made some mistakes on offense and defense, and we know where we have to get focused for the next game.

At 3pm ET on Field 1, Canada (3-2) will contest the Bronze Medal game against Panama (2-3) who recovered from an 0-3 start on Wednesday by shutting out Brazil 18-0 and beating Chile 46-7.

Chile (0-5) will look to reverse a defeat suffered against Brazil (1-4) earlier in the tournament when the two nations meet to contest fifth place at 1.30pm on Field 1.
